Mezze (Grilled Veggie Platter)

This mezze is meant to be eaten casually with fresh pita or your fingers. This is a fabulous and convenient appetizer because you can do the prep ahead of time and just keep it warm. Turn this into a fabulous middle-eastern dinner by serving with hummus and Greek salad, followed by a grilled leg or rack of lamb and orzo pilaf (and, of course, your favorite Greek wine!

Your choice of fresh veggies. I used:
Cherry tomatoes
Red onion
Red cabbage
Red and yellow bell peppers
Olive oil
Dried oregano
Fresh lemon juice
Fresh basil, chopped
Fresh mint, chopped


  1. Preheat grill to medium.
  2. Slice veggies and brush with olive oil. Sprinkle with oregano, salt, and pepper. Grill on each side for a few minutes. Let cool then place on platter.
  3. Liven up your veggies with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and chopped fresh basil and mint. Serve with hummus and lots of warm pocket pita bread or toasts and Feta cheese slices, drizzled with a fruity, Greek olive oil.
  4. You can also whip up a quick tzatziki sauce. Mix plain Greek yogurt with chopped fresh mint or dill, olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice and zest, salt, and black pepper with finely diced, seeded, and sweated cucumbers.
